Science park managers from around the world, many of them IASP members, travelled to Seville, Spain, to join the International Convention of Science and Technology Parks event which was held to mark the 25th anniversary of Expo Seville, the Universal Exposition of Seville which took place in 1992.

The anniversary celebrations were organised by PCT Cartuja, also an IASP member, a science park located on the Expo’s Isla de la Cartuja site. The event aimed to underline how Seville has successfully used the Expo’s legacy and infrastructure to build long term economic growth. Susana Diaz, President of Andalusia, was in attendance to celebrate the importance of science parks to the regional economy and emphasise the regional government’s commitment to developing cutting edge R&D, talent and innovation..

IASP President Josep Pique, Vice President Paul Krutko and Director General Luis Sanz were all present, along with IASP members from Brazil, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Italy, Morocco, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the UK, the USA and Uruguay. Following a keynote address from Fujitsu on how technology is changing business, society and people’s lives, they participated in a round table on excellence in science parks and how the international network of STPs can support the internationalisation of their companies.
