With 50% of their resident companies focusing on the ICT sector, ODTÜ Teknokent (Turkey) has embarked upon a series of trade missions to support them in their efforts to reach global markets.

After the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Las Vegas, USA in January and COMPUTEX, Chinese Taipei in June 2018, the ODTÜ Teknokent ICT cluster team recently organized a trade mission to help companies find new partners in London, UK.

With the participation of 18 people from 10 different ICT companies, the mission aimed to increase their internationalization capacities and accelerate market entrance in a trip that included the Office of the Counsellor of Commercial Affairs, Turkish Trade Center, Facebook, and various companies.

During the mission, entrepreneurs learned about the UK market, tax and legal procedures, branch set up processes and increasing market share. In addition, companies had a chance to present their products and services to various Venture Capital funds and to get market specific feedbacks. Panel discussions with the Turkish entrepreneurs located in UK also offered the opportunity to explore first hand the difficulties and possible obstacles they might encounter when entering the market.

In B2B sessions, organized in collaboration with EEN London partner, Newable, the Turkish companies also introduced their products to possible partners looking to collaborate on projects, develop their businesses and form distribution partnerships.

In total, ODTÜ cluster companies carried out over 100 international cooperation meetings. and 4 of the companies have already reached sales and marketing agreement for their products and services.
