Leading Sustainability Through a Hydrogen Technology Park in the Basque Country

The European Green Deal is synonymous with transformation and the promotion of a sustainable economy that will enable the European Union to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Within the European regions, the Basque Country in Spain, is firmly committed to decarbonizing energy as a fundamental tool for the fight against climate change. Proof of the already mentioned, is the commitment of the region to the Basque Hydrogen Corridor, BH2C. This project seeks the creation of a hydrogen ecosystem that allows progress in the decarbonization of energy, inside the industrial, residential, and mobility sectors. Based on a public-private collaboration of 78 organisations, of which the Basque Country Technology Parks is a part, this big project will mobilize an investment of more than 1,500 million euros until 2026 and will translate into the production 39,000 annual tons of renewable hydrogen that will avoid the emission of 1.5 million tons of CO2.
