Toward Technology Diplomacy: Meeting Between University of Tehran Science and Technology Park and Beijing Association for International Exchanges

A joint meeting between the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park and the Beijing Association for International Exchanges was held on Monday, May 19, at the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park.
University of Tehran Science and Technology Park: A Pioneer in Innovation Ecosystem Development and International Cooperation
Dr. Ali Asadi, President of the University of Tehran Science and Technology Park, highlighted the park’s history and significant position, stating:
“The University of Tehran Science and Technology Park is recognized as the oldest, largest, and the first university-based science park in Iran.”
He added:
“Currently, nearly 400 technology-based and knowledge-based companies, as well as student and entrepreneurial teams, are actively operating in the park, developing cutting-edge technologies across various fields.”
Referring to the strong economic and political ties between Iran and China, Dr. Asadi described these relations as a suitable platform for expanding technological cooperation, noting:
“Such collaborations provide a valuable opportunity to foster effective and result-oriented partnerships in the fields of technology and innovation between the two countries.”
The Role of University of Tehran Science and Technology Park in Developing the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem
Dr. Bahareh Heidari, International Affairs Advisor of the Science and Technology Park, introduced the park and its objectives, stating:
“The park is committed to transforming knowledge into wealth, commercializing research achievements, bridging academia and industry, accelerating technological and economic development, and reducing technology development costs.”
Emphasizing the park’s supportive role in the growth of knowledge-based businesses, she added:
“The park empowers technology companies by providing a wide range of specialized services, including educational and consulting support, financial and credit facilities, commercialization assistance, and intellectual property protection.”
Dr. Heidary also highlighted legal incentives available to companies based in the park, saying:
“These include benefits under Article 47 of the Free Trade Zones Law, such as tax and customs exemptions for legal investments and financial transactions.”
She concluded:
“Facilitating participation in national and international events is another key service provided by the park, which contributes significantly to the development of the country’s entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.”
