In a significant move to drive technological innovation and interregional cooperation, IASP members Málaga TechPark and ParcBit, two of Southern Europe's leading technology parks, officially signed a strategic collaboration agreement on May 13, 2025. The accord was sealed at Málaga TechPark by Carolina España, Minister of Economy, Finance, and European Funds of the Andalusian Government and President of Málaga TechPark, and Antoni Costa, Minister of Economy, Finance, and Innovation of the Balearic Islands Government and President of the Bit Foundation.
This two-year renewable agreement establishes a robust framework for joint initiatives aimed at enabling business development, digital transformation, and the internationalization of both regions' vibrant tech ecosystems. Key areas of collaboration include business digitalization, sustainability, technology transfer, and the promotion of smart and sustainable infrastructures. The partnership will encourage knowledge exchange, best practices in innovation environment management, and facilitate business mobility through programs allowing companies and professionals to operate temporarily in either park.
Both ministers emphasized the strategic importance of this alliance. Carolina España highlighted the commitment to genuine cooperation between regions sharing a vision rooted in knowledge, technology, and talent. Antoni Costa affirmed the agreement's role in connecting ParcBit with other leading ecosystems, supporting the international expansion of Balearic startups, and attracting and retaining talent.
The collaboration will also focus on promoting the internationalization of startups and innovative projects, supporting their participation in European calls, funding programs, and international cooperation networks. Following the signing, the delegation visited Accenture’s Advanced Technology Center in Málaga, a global benchmark in cutting-edge technological solutions. The visit showcased Accenture's crucial role, with over 1,300 professionals leading projects in AI, cybersecurity, and applied innovation worldwide, underscoring Málaga's position as a significant tech hub.
We are thrilled to see our members develop deeper collaboration ties which will encourage the exchange of knowledge and hasten the development of business and innovation in the region. Congratulations and we look forward to the fruitful discussions and initiatives to come from this agreement.
