In a pandemic world, the diagnostic of SARS-COV-2 became a bottleneck caused by the increased number of infected people and limited resources for molecular diagnostic reagents. The WHO uses a standard protocol for diagnosis called real time PCR which demands equipment of sophisticated technology, expensive reagents and professionals with experience to analyse data. The project proposal is to create a pre-diagnostic test that uses conventional PCR with a higher potential of detection, but cheaper and without false positive results for identification of the virus in the saliva of patients. By this, the pre-diagnostic can solve samples with higher virus concentration avoiding waste of resources for samples. Additionally, the project developed more specific and better performing primers for real time PCR compatible with SYBR green reagent turning the WHO standard protocol more sensible and cheaper.
