Parque Tecnológico e Científico da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco

Parque Tecnológico e Científico da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (Parque.TeC UFPE) is the science and technology park of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), located in Recife. Closely linked to UFPE and integrated into the university’s Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (PROPESQI), the park acts as a central component of the university’s innovation ecosystem, promoting research commercialization, entrepreneurship, and collaboration between academia and industry.

The park has a total surface area of 72,704 m², hosts 11 resident companies, and includes 1 incubator supporting 26 incubated startups and projects. It is being developed within the historic Celso Furtado Building complex, an important architectural asset of UFPE that is being transformed into a hub for innovation and technology-based entrepreneurship. In 2022, the project received funding from FINEP/MCTI (Funding Authority for Studies and Projects of Brazil’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation) for the first phase of the renovation works for the incubator installation. Since 2024, UFPE has also been working with BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) on a public-private partnership project to restore the full complex and expand Parque.TeC with business modules connected to Pernambuco’s private sector.

Parque.TeC UFPE supports innovation in fields such as information technology, engineering, health and biotechnology, sustainability, artificial intelligence, and advanced technologies. Its ecosystem includes the Parque.TeC Incubator, which supports research-based and deep-tech startups through mentoring, training, and infrastructure support, as well as TeC.Maker, a prototyping environment aligned with Industry 4.0 principles. The park also hosts a supercomputing system that supports advanced academic research involving high-performance computational simulation.

An important initiative is the Parque.TeC Academia – Entrepreneurship and Incubation Units (UEI) programme, launched in 2025 to strengthen entrepreneurship and innovation across UFPE’s academic centers. The program creates a decentralized network of pre-incubation units that provide training in entrepreneurial, technical, and innovation-related skills. By 2026, seven UEIs had already been approved and were being implemented across different academic fields, helping develop startup teams and projects before they enter the main incubation programs.

Looking ahead, Parque.TeC UFPE will also host two new UFPE research institutes supported by FINEP/MCTI: the Caatinga Bionegócios Institute and Quanta UFPE, both focused on linking advanced scientific research with the creation of spin-offs and technology startups.
