Description:
The project aimed to enhance e-Waste Management skills through a partnership, focusing on training youth in e-waste management, recycling, and repair, addressing skills gaps and policy recommendations. It aimed to upscale existing projects to improve employment opportunities by training 550 youth (with at least 35% women) across eight vocational training institutions. Additionally, it aimed to strengthen vocational training institutions, support social enterprises, and raise e-waste disposal awareness. Classroom and practical training were provided, followed by real work placements. Disadvantaged youth aged 18-35 received technical and business skills training, with internships and job placements. Circular economy principles were introduced to promote sustainability. The project targeted job creation, capacity building, and partnership development, ensuring decent jobs for participants and strengthening linkages to employment. It focused on vulnerable youth in specified counties, employing detailed selection criteria. The project built a network of e-waste collectors, enhanced collection capacity, and promoted sustainable growth in e-waste recycling, contributing to Kenya's circular economy.
