Background information

OpenZone is a scientific campus on the doorstep of Milan dedicated to the Health. Conceived to build bridges between different competencies, languages and worlds, OpenZone is the embodiment of a place where innovation happens. Today the campus is home to 27 companies employing 600 people, including some of the foremost biotechnology, pharmaceutical and advanced gene therapy enterprises, all with a strong focus on innovation. the campus is funded entirely by private capital and founded on an approach geared towards open innovation. OpenZone is a crossroads of events and personalities that increasingly find in it the ideal place to talk about science, entrepreneurship, and innovation. OpenZone creates a unique setting where innovative businesses can be started, grow, and develop into global players. Science can be turned to account and produce concrete solutions in an environment that is sustainable, visually appealing and – most importantly – ethical. Today, OpenZone has 16,500 sqm of office space and 10,500 sqm of laboratories. Work is underway to expand the campus, which will almost double in size by 2021, thanks to a total investment of around 60 million euros.
