Sustainable Economic Growth through Establishing Science & Technology Parks & Supporting Start-Ups

The Knowledge Economy is characterized by knowledge-intensive activities that drive rapid technological and scientific progress. Nurturing startups, relying on intellectual capabilities, human capital, research and development, and the commercialization of innovative products and services are vital components of this economy. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups have played a crucial role in advancing technology and fostering innovative ideas, particularly when situated in supportive environments like science parks. Science parks are pivotal in cultivating technology and knowledge-based economies and spurring economic growth. ISTT, the pioneer of technology parks in Iran, has significantly contributed to regional economic development by supporting startups and SMEs, thus creating employment opportunities for recent graduates.

Recognizing the importance of research commercialization and enhancing the capacity of research and technology institutions (RTIs) in developing nations, the Isfahan Regional Centre for Technology Incubator and Science Park Development, in collaboration with UNESCO (IRIS), UNESCO Tehran Office (UTO), ISTT, ECO Science Foundation, and COMSTECH, will jointly conduct a workshop in Isfahan. This workshop aims to empower public organizations, science park authorities, university experts, and professionals managing science parks and incubators. It will enhance their knowledge of establishing and managing such entities and provide support for knowledge-based companies in their respective countries. The training will facilitate the commercialization of research results and promote collaboration between the public and private sectors at the national level in the field of innovation.
