Question of the month: resident companies and patents

In February, we asked IASP members and website visitors what percentage of their resident companies located in their park or area of innovation have their own patents.
As can be seen in the graph, there is a fairly even spread of results, with no clear majority, but 50% of the responses show that 11-50% of the resident companies in the park or area of innovation have patents (equal proportions in the two categories of 11-25% and 26-50%). The same percentage of respondents (22.5%) did not have that information about their resident companies.
Likewise, an equal number of respondents (12.5% in each case) stated either that only a small amount (up to 10%) of their companies had their own patents) or over 50% of their companies had their own patents. This latter figure indicates the high innovative capacities of the resident companies located in science parks and areas of innovation.
