Singularity University is a global community that uses exponential technologies to tackle global challenges. Their learning and innovation platform empowers individuals and organizations to create solutions that use emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital biology. Working with entrepreneurs, corporations, development organizations, governments, investors, and academic institutions, it helps communities to understand rapidly accelerating technologies and how to apply them to make a positive impact.

The Tecnopuc project is part of SingularityU Branches - local, volunteer driven, community organisations managed by Singularity University alumni who work as ambassadors to encourage the development of entrepreneurship and technology in their home regions. They facilitate vibrant local innovation ecosystems, and focus on leveraging exponential technologies to solve humanity’s grand challenges. Although Porto Alegre will not be hosting a physical unit of the institution, its ambassadors intend to promote events and discussions on new solutions and to connect the local ecosystem to other Singularity partners.

Tecnopuc director Rafael Prikladnicki commented: “I make available everything I know to the ecosystem, and I know this will come back to me and everyone will have more conditions to grow. When we bring our thoughts together, we’ll go from linear to exponential growth. As technologies are developed on a digital format, they grow exponentially, become more agile, more efficient, economical and intelligent.”

SingularityU ambassador Francisco Milagres described the institution’s mission in Porto Alegre, saying: “There’s no magic to generate wealth and progress without getting us out of our comfort zone and this is our goal.”

Porto Alegre is the sixth Singularity U unit in Brazil and one of 60 Chapters present in 37 countries: to find out more, visit https://singularityuglobal.org/community/chapters/porto-alegre.
