Description:

This article examines the EmpreendElas Program, an initiative by Nexus, a Brazilian incubator targeting women in STEM entrepreneurship. It explores the program within the context of inclusive innovation and its role in addressing the persistent gender gap in Latin American STEM fields. Despite high female graduation rates, women remain underrepresented in STEM careers and entrepreneurship. This article highlights the challenges faced by women, including the burden of domestic work, lack of female role models, and potential investor bias.

The paper emphasizes the future opportunities presented by inclusive innovation. Increased participation of women in STEM entrepreneurship can lead to a more diverse talent pool, fostering innovation and tackling real-world challenges. Furthermore, it can empower underserved communities and inspire future generations. The analysis positions the EmpreendElas Program as aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 5 & 10, promoting gender equality and reducing inequalities. Technology parks, like the one housing EmpreendElas, are identified as crucial for inclusive innovation by providing essential infrastructure, resources, networks, and expertise for female entrepreneurs. In conclusion, the article emphasizes the importance of investing in inclusive programs like EmpreendElas to create a more equitable and sustainable innovation ecosystem that drives economic and social development.
