Objectives
The Pre-Feasibility Study for the Establishment of an Innovation Hub in the Dominican Republic was carried out as part of the broader Punta Bergantín development initiative. Located in Puerto Plata, the proposed Innovation Hub aims to serve as a regional engine for entrepreneurship, research, development, and innovation in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean.
The study outlined a strategic plan to position the country as a competitive innovation destination. It proposed a hybrid model combining physical infrastructure and virtual platforms to support collaboration, technology transfer, and investment attraction.
Activities
The strategy was built on four pillars:
- Support for innovation and entrepreneurship
- Development of infrastructure
- Attraction and development of human capital
- Access to finance
The project laid the groundwork for transforming the Dominican Republic into a regional hub for innovation and entrepreneurship while supporting sustainable development and global visibility for the Punta Bergantín area.
