Description:
As the technology market grows, there is an increasing need for qualified professionals in the IT industry, creating a human capital gap. To address this issue, Porto Digital, a technology park in Brazil, implemented a public policy funded by the Municipal Government in partnership with higher education institutions and technology companies from the local innovation ecosystem. The Embarque Digital Program aims to bridge the human capital gap by promoting the socio-productive inclusion of young people in social vulnerability through IT training, updating course curricula, and integrating practical and immersive experiences in IT companies. In less than 3 years, the program has shown positive results in the employability of participating youth, successfully integrating them into the local IT job market. The program's positive impact on the inclusion of young people from outskirts into the Porto Digital ecosystem demonstrates that collaboration academia-industry-government through public policies can effectively address socioeconomic challenges and guide future technology training initiatives.
