Background information
Dokuz Eylül University Technopark (DEPARK) is a technology development zone located in Izmir and closely affiliated with Dokuz Eylül University. Established in 2013 as Turkey’s first specialised health technopark, DEPARK supports innovation, research commercialization, and entrepreneurship by strengthening collaboration between academia, industry, and startups. The technopark has a surface area of approximately 45,000 m² and hosts around 120 resident companies working across a wide range of high-tech sectors. It also operates 2 incubators supporting around 40 incubated startups, providing early-stage companies with workspace, mentoring, technical infrastructure, and business development support. DEPARK operates across two main campuses of Dokuz Eylül University and includes several dedicated facilities such as the Alfa, Beta, Zeytin, Nar, and Defne Buildings, with the Gama Building currently under development. These facilities provide modern offices, R&D spaces, and collaborative environments for companies and research teams. DEPARK hosts nearly 20 thematic clusters, enabling cross-disciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange. Through its activities, the technopark has supported the completion of more than 1,100 R&D projects and facilitated the development of nearly 2,000 innovative products brought to market. A core mission of DEPARK is to facilitate university–industry collaboration and technology transfer, enabling researchers, students, and companies to jointly develop and commercialize new technologies. It offers end-to-end support services, including incubation, mentoring, infrastructure, networking opportunities, and assistance with intellectual property and market access. Beyond its regional role, DEPARK also contributes to the international innovation landscape by sharing expertise and guiding partner technology development zones (TDZs) and technology transfer offices (TTOs). Through these collaborations, DEPARK supports innovation-driven growth and strengthens both regional and global technology ecosystems
