Description:

Science and Technology Parks (STPs) play a crucial role in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation by creating collaborative environments that drive technological and economic development. The Institute of Innovation and Technology Transfer of Nuevo León, manages the Research and Technology Innovation Park (the PIIT), and among other activities, fosters innovation and entrepreneurship through two strategic public calls.

The first, Technology-Based Entrepreneurship Incentives, supports researchers, entrepreneurs, and companies developing biotechnology and nanotechnology projects, facilitating knowledge and technology transfer to the market. Meanwhile, PIIT Innovation Challenges funds high-impact projects in key areas such as water management, alternative energy, electromobility, food technology, environment, and health.

These initiatives reinforce STPs as enablers for integration, enhancement of competitiveness, driving of smart specialization, and support for a knowledge-based growth. This case study illustrates how targeted funding mechanisms advance a more sustainable, knowledge-based development model that generates economic, social, and environmental benefits.
