October brings new insights on remote work - QoTM

Since the Covid19 pandemic, our lives have significantly changed and so has the way we work. Remote and hybrid work have taken huge protagonism over the last years, reshaping workplaces across all sectors. Our Innovation Ecosystems are no exception. 

This month, we asked our members about STP/AOI/ID adoption of remote working trends. In the aftermath of the pandemic, there was a sense that remote working was on the rise. Although many people are now back in offices, how has their STP/AOI/ID adapted to this trend? 

The results reveal clear shifts. The majority of STPs, AOIs and IDs have indeed noticed that many of their resident companies now work remotely or in a hybrid manner (51.6%). Around 20 percent have taken proactive steps by creating dedicated spaces for this, such as co-working spaces or hot desks. However, 19.4% reported losing resident companies that have decided to work fully remotely. 9.7% have not seen any changes at all. 

These findings raise important questions for the future of innovation ecosystems. Should we adapt further to accommodate these evolving work habits and prevent the loss of companies? And how can we continue to foster collaboration when teams are increasingly taking on these work formats? 

As the boundaries between physical and virtual workplaces blur, one thing remains certain. Innovation thrives where people connect! Whether that is in person, online, or somewhere in between.
