Technology, people and the Côte d’Azur: social highlights from IASP Sophia Antipolis

The 43rd IASP World Conference in Sophia Antipolis explored the theme “Tech for Humanity: Shaping Values for a Human-Centric Future”, looking at how innovation can advance progress while serving people and society. And as always, the conversations did not end when the sessions did. Alongside the conference programme, three evenings offered delegates the opportunity to gather in some of the most iconic venues of Sophia Antipolis and Antibes to relax, connect and keep the discussion going.
Welcome Reception at Pôle Alpha (Sophia Antipolis)
The social programme kicked off with a Welcome Reception at the Pôle Alpha, a landmark building in the heart of the technopole. It was a fitting place to begin: a place that reflects the ambition and collaborative spirit of Sophia Antipolis, where innovation and community grow side by side. Delegates reunited with old friends, met new colleagues and started building the connections that would shape the days ahead.
Informal Dinner at Azur Arena (Sophia Antipolis)
On the second night, the group headed to the Azur Arena, home of the Antibes Sharks basketball team. An acrobatic basketball show by the Crazy Dunkers, together with performances by the local cheerleading team, brought some sporting energy to the evening, while Sharky, the team's mascot, made a special appearance. It was a great opportunity to step away from the conference programme and enjoy an informal evening together, with a distinctly local flavour.
Gala Dinner at Port Vauban (Antibes)
The conference's final evening brought delegates to the Bastion Saint-Jaume in Antibes for the Gala Dinner. Overlooking Port Vauban and the Mediterranean, the venue provided a memorable setting for the occasion. Delegates gathered as the sun set over the harbour, with Nomade, the striking sculpture that has become one of Antibes' landmarks, keeping watch over the festivities.
The Gala Dinner also included two important moments for the IASP network. The winners of this year's Inspiring Solution Awards received their prizes, recognising projects demonstrating the positive impact that science parks, innovation districts and areas of innovation can make. We also welcomed IASP's newest members, officially introducing them to the wider international community.
From the welcome reception in Sophia Antipolis to the final evening in Antibes, these gatherings provided valuable opportunities to strengthen existing relationships and make new connections. They are an important part of the IASP World Conference, allowing delegates to get to know one another beyond the conference sessions and build relationships that continue long after the event.
