Globalization or Regionalization: a Corporate Perspective

Regionalization of critical business functions will not be limited to production (‘re-shoring’) but will also apply to the way how and where corporations focus their R&D efforts. A combination of input, output, effectiveness, risks and financial considerations will lead to more regional R&D centers. Science and Technology Parks and Areas of Innovation have the ecosystems and assets to meet the location requirements of this flow of new R&D centers. But for successful positioning and marketing a focus on technology niches and a tailored marketing approach based on dedicated value propositions are necessary.
