Description:
HIDS (International Hub for Sustainable Development) is an Area of Innovation (AOI) currently being developed in the city of Campinas, Brazil, which is a scientific and technological pole. HIDS aims to positively influence local socio-economic development based on values intrinsically linked to Sustainable Development principles, as well as contribute to fostering the green and digital transition through the development of innovative solutions targeted at overcoming social challenges. The concept of HIDS was created through collaborative efforts amongst multiple local institutions committed to the achievement of the 17 United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Thus, this article will briefly address the context of the local Innovation Ecosystem, as well as the role of HIDS as a platform for change. Its orientation towards the SDGs will be presented, in relation to their areas of expertise. Finally, the role of collaboration between different stakeholders will be referenced, based on the quintuple helix model.
