Innovation meets heritage: IASP member Ciudad del Saber honoured at MOA 2026

Ciudad del Saber (Panama) has further strengthened its commitment to sustainable, human-centred development, with three of its projects recognised at the 2026 edition of the “MOA – Mejores Obras de Arquitectura (Best Architectural Projects)” awards, organised by the Panama Professional Association of Architects. 

Through its department of planning and urban development, Ciudad del Saber received one Magno award and two Honour Distinctions, highlighting the quality and impact of its architectural interventions. Established in 1952, the MOA Awards are the oldest and most prestigious architectural recognition in the country, and in their 70th edition continue to showcase outstanding projects shaping Panama’s architectural environment. 

This recognition reflects Ciudad del Saber’s vision of transforming the campus through heritage rehabilitation and sustainable, human-centred design approaches focused on people and community wellbeing. 

Among the awarded projects, “La Casa Club – Edificio 108” received the Magno Award in the institutional category. The intervention restored the historical value of a former soldiers’ club, preserving its architectural identity while adapting the space for contemporary uses. 

“Casa de las Naciones Unidas – Edificio 128” was granted an Honour Distinction in the Refurbishment and Renovation category. The project stands out for integrating high standards of sustainability, efficiency and user wellbeing, including LEED certification. 

“Clayton Bowling – Edificio 202” also received an Honor Distinction in the Commercial category, recognising a renovation that reinterprets one of the campus’s most iconic spaces while maintaining its social and cultural relevance. 

These distinctions underline the evolving role of innovation campuses such as Ciudad del Saber, where architecture becomes a key tool to advance sustainable development, preserve heritage, and foster environments that support innovation, collaboration, and quality of life.
