Kalibr Technopark tenants in the fight against Covid

Companies based at Technopark Kalibr in Moscow, Russia, have been making a significant contribution to the fight against coronavirus infection, adapting production and offering innovative solutions and technologies, including diagnostic tools, protective clothing and medical equipment for disinfection.

When it comes to diagnosis, GenTerra JSC is currently working on the production and supply of key components of test systems for the diagnosis of coronavirus infections.  The company, one of the links in the diagnostic production chain, employs 28 people synthesizing the reagents that make up the test system. In parallel with the uninterrupted production process, the company has risen to the challenge of the increasing cost of components, complex logistics under the pandemic, and ensuring safe working conditions for staff.

Reliable disinfection is now more important than ever, and a third company Cubik Prints has turned its small-scale production of components by 3D printing, milling, plastic molding to meet this new need. Urgent work is currently underway on the production of components for the disinfection of air and room surfaces from various types of pathogenic microorganisms, including the coronavirus. And the company is almost ready to start printing personal protective equipment on 3D printers for the Moscow Department of Health.

Protective clothing takes many different forms, and one Kalibr company has pivoted its usual production from extreme weather clothing to protective equipment against Covid. In a very short timeframe, Bask Digital Factory consulted specialists in infectious diseases, and adapted laboratory production to develop, test and check the the reaction of fibres in different protective suits to treatment with aggressive disinfectants. They are poised to obtain certification to supply healthcare workers in direct contact with Covid patients, and are already proving protection to hospital support workers, disinfectants, volunteers, and couriers.
