Background information

Ideon Science Park is one of the most exciting places in Europe, where more than 10,000 sharp minds and 400 companies meet to develop the future.

The community at Ideon Science Park is highly skilled with a diverse set of competencies within 5G, IoT, AI, Cleantech, robotics, biomedicine, image recognition, connectivity, embedded systems and more, working mainly within four focus areas of Smart Cities, Future Transportation, Health Tech and Smart Materials.

As Scandinavia's first and largest site for open innovation, Ideon has a 35+ year history, and many of Sweden’s leading innovative companies began life in the park. Located next to Lund University School of Economics and the Faculty of Engineering, the Science Park creates a place for business, research and public services to meet and innovate together.

The park offers a range of services to companies and entrepreneurs, including a soft-landing service to help local companies go global and international companies to establish themselves in Sweden. A matchmaking service welcomes international delegations each year, with visits tailored to ensure they are mutually beneficial.

Talent attraction is key at Ideon, and close links with Lund University have built the MatchIT collaboration, where the university creates tailor-made courses while the park finds internships at Ideon companies. They also offer companies a way to get qualified help from students within different areas such as internships, thesis assignments, project resources or finding student employees.

Open innovation has an important role at the park, with Ideon Open supporting larger corporations to find new ways to ground breaking innovations, helping them formulate their challenges, find the most appropriate innovation partners, scientists, and startups to work with.

In 2019, Ideon became the first UN certified science park in the world.
