Innovation Platform as the Tool to Shape the Environment for the Emergence of Flagship Firm - the Case of Medical Device Industry in Kaohsiung Science Park

The aim of this paper is to analyze how to incubate the flagship firm by innovation platform. Flagship firm is still an important driver in the formation of industrial cluster; however, it is not easy for the young science parks to attract them. Kaohsiung Science Park (KSP) as the second site managed by Southern Taiwan Science Park Administration (STSPA), was facing this situation before 2008. In order to solve this problem, the way of KSP is to construct an innovation environment to shape and strength their advantage in which the model of innovation platform is the important tool to realize this idea.
