Sustainable Blue Food And Climate Change: Making A Case For Accurate Impact Measurement

Innovation Support Organizations (ISOs) serve as catalysts on local and global stages, attracting the attention of Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) looking to fund blue economy projects. On the other hand, investors are increasingly blending profit and impact, with innovative financial instruments incentivizing sustainability and regeneration. 

Despite the booming tech startup scene in Kenya and Africa, it’s difficult to gauge the effectiveness of the acceleration and incubation programs especially measuring impacts or clear direction for adopting sustainability impact key performance indicators in the blue economy. 

The blue economy is a treasure trove, with an estimated worth of 2.5 trillion $ economy. In my presentation, I’m making a case for the adoption of sustainability Key Performance Indicators to be able to measure effectiveness of innovation initiatives and projects supporting entrepreneurs in Africa in the Blue Economy sector with a focus on Food Tech and Climate change.
