Background information

Based in Gothenburg, Sahlgrenska Science Park works to strengthen the life science industry with a focus on western Sweden. The park offers expertise and experience on a commercial basis, together with a large network in the business community and other life science stake holders. With sustainable health and with the human being in focus, Sahlgrenska increases the prospects for business, academia and healthcare to cooperate.

The park’s mission in western Sweden is to actively contribute to innovation and competitiveness in the life science industry, increase collaboration between academia, healthcare and business and aid with the establishment of new and development of existing businesses. Collaboration is a key concern: the park offers workshops, matchmaking events, seminars and meetings where companies can connect and deepen relationships in joint projects. Entrepreneurs, companies, researchers, patients, health care professionals have the opportunity to meet in a neutral collaboration arena where investors and life science clusters from other countries are also present.

A collaboration group is connected to Sahlgrenska Science Park to develop and streamline innovation support and communication throughout the life science industry in West Sweden. The group includes representatives from Region Västra Götaland, Gothia Forum, AstraZeneca BioVentureHub, Innovation Platform, MedTechWest and Business Region Gothenburg. The Collaboration Arena is continuously developing.

Sahlgrenska Science Park is jointly owned by the Region Västra Götaland (VGR), Business Region Göteborg, the University of Gothenburg (through GU Ventures) and Chalmers University of Technology.
