Background information

Zagreb Innovation Centre (ZICER) is Croatia’s leading startup hub and accelerator, with over 30 years of experience supporting technology-driven entrepreneurship, innovation, and skills development. Based in a 7,300 m² facility in Zagreb, it supports more than 80 startups on-site and delivers comprehensive acceleration programmes that include education, mentoring, expert consulting, infrastructure access, and financial support to help startups turn high-tech ideas into scalable businesses.

Since 2017, ZICER has operated award-winning accelerators such as Startup Factory, Global Growth, and Tech Transfer, helping hundreds of startups with market entry, growth, internationalisation, and research commercialisation. It also promotes citizen-driven and demand-led innovation through hackathons and challenges focused on smart cities and digital and green technologies.

Founded by the City of Zagreb, ZICER works closely with the city administration and maintains strong partnerships with universities, research institutions, public authorities, and industry. Key collaborators include the University of Zagreb and the Ruđer Bošković Institute, along with other academic institutions, national innovation and finance bodies, and corporate partners.

With a multidisciplinary team and extensive partner network, ZICER has significant experience in managing complex EU-funded and international projects, positioning it as a trusted partner in startup acceleration, innovation, and sustainable urban development.
