Background information

Green City Benguerir (Ville Verte de Benguerir) is a large-scale sustainable urban development in Morocco, spanning approximately 1,000 hectares and centred around Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). Designed as a smart, green and knowledge-driven city, it brings together education, research, innovation, economic activity and sustainable urban living within an integrated urban environment.

A central component of this ecosystem is TechPark Benguerir, a 188-hectare science and technology park dedicated to supporting innovative companies and entrepreneurs. It provides the infrastructure and services needed to develop high-tech businesses, including incubation and acceleration programmes, R&D facilities, laboratories, training and prototyping facilities.

TechPark forms part of a broader innovation ecosystem that includes StartGate, living labs, the Green Energy Park and the Green & Smart Building Park. Together, these platforms enable startups, researchers and businesses to develop, test and commercialise new solutions across areas such as clean technology, ICT, Industry 4.0, mining, chemistry and life sciences.

Beyond its role as an innovation and business hub, Green City Benguerir also serves as a living laboratory for sustainable urban development. Its activities span applied research, entrepreneurship, experimentation and the deployment of smart and environmentally sustainable solutions, allowing new technologies and approaches to be tested in a real-world setting.
