The IASP World Conferences are a key highlight on the association’s calendar, and interest in hosting them continues to grow. This was evident in the recent bid for the 2027 World Conference, where three outstanding candidates - Chiang Mai (Thailand), Dhahran (Saudi Arabia), and Norrköping (Sweden) - presented their proposals to welcome the IASP community to their respective locations.

Following their campaigns over the past months, the finalists were given the opportunity to come to the stage during the IASP General Assembly where each presented compelling cases, showcasing the strengths of their cities, countries, and innovation ecosystems, delivering inspiring presentations to support their bids.

The decision is always tough but after the voting round, the IASP General Assembly chose Dharan Techno Valley as the host and organiser of the 2027 World Conference.

Established in 2006, Dhahran Techno Valley (DTV) is an innovation ecosystem that serves as a central hub for innovation in energy and sustainability within Saudi Arabia's innovation agenda. Housing organisations focused on innovation services, DTV is anchored by the world-class King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) and numerous advanced research institutes. The ecosystem boasts a mix of over 1,700 professionals in corporate R&D facilities.

The future host city, Dhahran, situated in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, plays a central role in the oil industry, being the home to Saudi Aramco's headquarters. A centre of innovation in energy and sustainability, Dhahran is a key driver of the country’s emerging research, development, and innovation ecosystem - and a gateway to exploring the broader region's economic and cultural landscapes.

We share our sincere thanks to all bidding cities for their efforts. The relationships, insights, and collaborations developed during this process will undoubtedly prove valuable for all. Congratulations to the winning bid - see you in Dhahran in 2027!
