Cape Verde has officially inaugurated IASP member TechPark CV, a state-of-the-art technology and innovation hub that marks a major milestone in the country’s digital transformation. With €45.59 million in funding from the African Development Bank — nearly 2% of Cape Verde’s GDP — the project aims to position the nation as the “Tech Islands of West Africa.”
TechPark CV spans two campuses in Praia and Mindelo and is already home to 23 companies, with capacity for 1,500 workers. Designed to encourage collaboration between businesses, government, and academia, it offers modern coworking spaces, data centres, and a range of digital services to support startups and attract international partnerships.
The launch ceremonies, held on May 5th in Praia and May 6th in Mindelo, drew over 800 participants from more than 33 countries. Notable attendees included Prime Minister H.E. Ulisses Correia e Silva, AfDB President Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina, and executives from Intel, Microsoft, and Smart Africa.
Reflecting on the event, TechPark board member Kesa Lima shared in a post: “The inauguration of TechPark CV was not just the opening of a building — but the birth of a growing community committed to technology, collaboration, and impact… Representing 33+ countries, what a milestone!”
Carlos Monteiro, President of TechPark CV, highlighted its strategic role: “We’re fostering a community where technology drives economic growth and sustainable development for Cape Verde and our international partners.”
As part of its regional mission, TechPark CV will collaborate with ECOWAS to expand digital opportunities across West Africa. Businesses located in the park benefit from tax incentives, high-speed connectivity, and access to international markets.
We congratulate TechPark CV and its partners on this landmark achievement, which is a bold step forward for Cape Verde and the region. TechPark CV sets a powerful example of innovation, inclusion, and international collaboration in West Africa.
The journey is just beginning — and Cape Verde is now firmly on the global innovation map.
