Glasgow City Innovation District launches new Strategic Plan

Glasgow City Innovation District (GCID) unveiled their strategic plan 2025-2030 this month, strengthening the city pivotal role as hub for innovation. 

The new strategy outlines five key goals designed to accelerate business growth, strengthen industry partnerships, and enhance the city’s innovation infrastructure. The plan will be structured around the following strategic axes: innovation, enterprise and investment, ecosystem development and industry engagement, infrastructure and placemaking, city/regional/national/global partnerships, and talent, skills and learning development. 

The IASP global network will strongly contribute enhancing GCID’s standing on partnerships at a global level through international collaboration.  

In addition, the plan aims to support both the innovation ecosystem and the local communities through delivering purposeful and sustainable impact. For example, GCID plan to use their fusion fund to support up to 8 community focussed projects each year.

GCID needs to adapt to a changing policy and funding environment to better support the growth and scale up of innovative businesses and to help realise Glasgow’s potential as an international innovation ecosystem, location and destination. 

As Scotland’s first Innovation District, GCID brings together academia, industry, investors and government to drive innovation. This kind of collaboration and momentum building strengthens the city and expands its reach.
