The National Science and Technology Park (NSTP) and Dhahran Techno Valley (DTV), both IASP members, sign a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) on January 12th 2026, marking progress towards strengthening innovation collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The partnership establishes a structured framework to accelerate technology commercialization, deepen academia-industry linkages and expand cross border collaboration through sharing opportunities for startups, researchers and, entrepreneurs across both ecosystems. It was signed by Amer Sheikh (Director of NSTP) and Mohammed Abusharifah (CEO of DTV).

The collaboration connects both organizations to fast track the transition from research to market through joint acceleration programmes, industry partnerships, and co-investment pathways. The key areas of cooperation include shared learning platforms, cross-border ecosystem events, and expanded access to regional and international networks.

A highlight from the MoU is the launch of a postdoctoral startup fellowship, designed to support researchers from both countries in spinning out investable ventures. The programme aims to combine scientific excellence with entrepreneurial support, enabling researchers to build globally competitive startups with access to mentorship, infrastructure, and market exposure.

“By aligning with Dhahran Techno Valley’s deep industry proximity and venture-building capabilities, we aim to create tangible pathways for startups and researchers to access markets, infrastructure, expertise, and collaborative programs” said NSPT’s Director. To add on this, Mohammed Abusharifah highlighted the broader impact of the collaboration stating “Dhahran Techno Valley reaffirms its commitment to accelerating the journey from lab to market by bridging world-class research with entrepreneurial spirit. This partnership with NSTP will strengthen the flow of talent, investments, and expertise between our two innovation hubs, creating new opportunities for stakeholders across both ecosystems”.

This collaboration reflects IASP’s focus on fostering cross-border cooperation among our members that support knowledge exchange, innovation-driven growth, and shared learning.
