Old friends back in our network
Congratulations to Marco Baccanti, an old friend of IASP, on his appointment as new managing director of our member Trentino Sviluppo, Italy.
IASP President from 2002-2004, he is originally from Italy, where he managed two science parks, continued in the STP industry in Dubai and then moved to Adelaide, Australia, where he held positions in both the public and the private sector. He is now back in his native Italy to take up his new post at Trentino Sviluppo. You may remember him as one of the speakers at IASP Virtual in 2020, where he joined CEO Ebba Lund in conversation about his professional journey – IASP members can log in to the Members Area to watch their conversation!
Former director of Technogym and the San Raffaele science park, Mr Baccanti was executive director of the DuBiotech free zone in Dubai, before moving to Australia where he was CEO of the Economic Development Agency for the life sciences of the government of the state of South Australia and then CEO of the Trajan Nutrition until their recent listing on the stock exchange.
Mr Baccanti commented:
“I am extremely pleased to inform you that in my new role of Managing Director of Trentino Sviluppo, I am now leading a well-established member of IASP. So, this means that I am back in the association again!
Despite having always been involved in leading economic development organisations in all recent years, unfortunately in my recent roles in Dubai and Australia, we were not affiliated with any association, in compliance with local government policies.
But I have been following your debate and progresses from outside, missing the personal interaction and contribution. So I am very happy to be back again, see you soon!”
