From Industrial Heritage to Innovation Heights: Jinnovation Park in the Context of Urban Renewal

With the acceleration of China’s urbanization process, the renovation and reuse of industrial heritage has become an important issue in urban renewal. As a typical case of industrial upgrading led by the Beijing BBMG Corporation, Jinnovation Park successfully transformed traditional industrial heritage into a modern, high-tech innovation hub. This paper takes Jinnovation Park as an example to explore the transformation strategies, development experiences, and service practices of upgrading existing industrial buildings into science parks in the context of urban renewal. By summarizing the universal experiences of Chinese science parks in vitalizing existing resources and building innovation ecosystems, this paper provides both theoretical and empirical references for global urban renewal.  

In the context of globalization and technological revolution, urban renewal has become an important topic in modern urban development. As part of the city’s history, the renovation and reuse of industrial heritage is not only about preserving urban memory but also serves as a key driver for industrial upgrading and economic transformation. Jinnovation Park, as a typical case of deconstructing non-capital functions, has successfully transformed from traditional industrial heritage to an innovation hub through systematic redevelopment, providing valuable experience for the development of China’s science parks.
