Description:
University Technology Parks (UTPs) have talent development as one of their vocations. With the demand for technology-based professionals, the ability to generate these workforces has become a competitive advantage and proves to be a strategic trend for UTPs. Big Techs finance and link to UTPs' educational programs, especially if offered to communities close to the park. The case study of this article analyzed a 5G Networks technology training project, with 371 enrolled and 202 graduates. The research questions were: What are the main reasons that cause participants' dropout? How to mitigate the dropout of participants in academies courses? In response to the research questions, four barriers were identified through interviews with dropouts that make it difficult for students to complete courses: technological barriers, socioeconomic barriers, motivational barriers, and educational barriers. The paper also presents the mitigation paths found. In addition to these findings, two hypotheses were tested using the multiple linear regression method: (h1) women engage more in technological training at UTPs, and (h2) low-income people engage more in technological training at  UTPs. Both hypotheses were not given any value to confirm the hypotheses.
