Description:
In recent years, following the success of Y Combinator, a new type of structure helping startups has spread. We propose a large-scale propensity matching study on the impact of such structures in the US on the future success of accelerated startups in terms of funding amount and investor quality, measured using Katz centrality. We find that except for the biggest ones, most accelerators have no impact of the funding of startups, raising questions on their relevance from a policy maker point of view.
