Zhengzhou National High & New Technology Industries Development Zone
Zhengzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Zhengzhou HIDZ) was established in 1988 and was approved by the State Council as a state-level development zone in 1991. It is located in the northwestern part of Zhengzhou, the capital of central China’s Henan Province.
Zhengzhou HIDZ’s five pillar industries are information technology, new materials, bioengineering, optical-mechanical-electronic integration and new energy. Five special industry parks have been set up to reflect these focus areas: the Innovation Service Center, Zhengzhou Biotech and Pharmaceutical Industry Park, Zhengzhou New Materials Industry Park, Zhengzhou Optical-Mechanical-Electronic Industry Park and Central China Software Industry Park.
Zhengzhou boasts a developed transportation system comprising airports, railways and highways. Two major railways, the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and the Lianyungang-Lanzhou Railway, and several expressways run through Zhengzhou, and Xinzheng Airport is located 37 km to the southeast. It currently covers a total area of 18.6 square kilometers, of which11sq.km. are ready for construction, and 10sq.km. is fully occupied by various enterprises. An extension plan to develop an additional 67.7sq.km.has been approved by the Zhengzhou Municipal Government
The zone is currently home to Zhengzhou University, the Chinese state 863 Information Industry Base, National Super Hard Materials Base, the State Tobacco Research Institute, Zhengzhou Machinery Research Institute, Henan Provincial Coal Industry Research Institute and other scientific research institutions.
