4 new full members join the global IASP community in February

This month four full new members have joined IASP from Kosovo, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.

Innovation and Training Park Prizren  (Kosovo)

Co-financed by the German and Kosovo governments, and implemented by GIZ, ITP Prizren is located in the well-maintained infrastructure of the former KFOR camp and establishes cooperative linkages among different stakeholders, offering an environment that fosters synergies between the private and public sectors, civil society organizations (NGOs and other non-profit entities) and academia. ITP Prizren includes 40 hectares of green spaces and 50 buildings and targets Kosovan regional & international companies that commercialize innovation from research and product development activities and offers possibilities for praxis-oriented learning. A 500 m2 incubator complements the activities of the park, mainly orientated towards ICT and communication, green energy and environmental technologies and creative and cultural industries.

Ostim Teknopark (Turkey)

Launched in 2015 and covering and area of 60,000 m2, Ostim Teknopark includes a technology production workshop that assists early-stage entrepreneurs and manufacturers to transition their prototypes to products, Inno:14 accelerator centre, and scope of Ostim INP, which provides capital investment and transfer of knowledge and experience to early-stage companies. With a cluster-oriented structure and to contribute to commercialisation and matching activities by bringing investments to the region, Ostim Technopark aims to develop high value-added products.

SHIFT (United Kingdom)

SHIFT is currently run under the umbrella of the London Legacy Development Corporation, the organization behind Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park formed in April 2012. Its concept is to develop a new dynamic heart for East London by seizing the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of the London 2012 Games and the creation of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. By doing this, they aim to create opportunities for local people and driving innovation and growth in London and the UK.

The project unites business, academia, government and local communities to find and scale solutions to the major challenges of city life and focuses on 3 impact areas: finding solutions to the climate emergency and London’s 2030 net-zero mission, boosting physical and mental health outcomes through innovation and upgrading mobility systems to be low-carbon, safe, accessible, affordable and efficient.

SHIFT currently has a surface area of 560 acres, is home to 400 resident companies and runs the future industries demonstrator program which provides direct financial and non-financial support to London-based SMEs to pilot, validate and scale up their solutions.

Taibah Valley (Saudi Arabia)

Taibah Valley was founded in 2018 under the umbrella of Taibah University. The project has been making great progress since its establishment, and aims at developing services such as consultation, training, business intelligence, emerging technologies (artificial Intelligence, block chain, internet of things and virtual reality) and stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship. Taibah Valley is committed to contributing to an increase the economic level in the region and in Saudi Arabia by supporting young people and experts, and helping to convert products into emerging companies.
