We’re excited to announce the three candidates shortlisted by the IASP International Board of Directors to potentially host the 2026 IASP World Conference. All candidates will be in Nairobi to present their bids in person to fellow IASP members, but in the meantime, you can see an overview of the three destinations to give you a taste of what each city has to offer. The potential destinations (listed alphabetically by city) are:

Cannes, France – Sophia Antipolis Science & Technology Park

Sophia Antipolis Science & Technology Park is strategically located near Cannes on the French Riviera, known for its significant influence in technology and sustainable practices. The area hosts a vibrant mix of 2,500 companies specialising in ICT, biotechnology, and healthcare, supported by a robust academic network of 5,500 international students. The proximity to Cannes with its top-notch facilities and hospitality offers an ideal setting for international conferences.

Dhahran, Saudi Arabia – Dhahran Techno Valley

Nominated by Dhahran Techno Valley in partnership with the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), Dhahran is pivotal in the Middle East's research and innovation, especially in energy and sustainability. Home to over 30 entities including major corporations, the park has successfully facilitated over 950 technology transfers and houses significant R&D facilities, making it a beacon of innovation in the region.

Edmonton, Canada – Edmonton Research Park

The bid from API with Edmonton Research Park highlights this park's role as a hub for sectors like clean energy, life sciences, and advanced technology. Located in Canada’s fifth-largest city, the park is part of a region noted for its vibrant innovation ecosystem with connections to eight major post-secondary institutions and a strong focus on AI and technological research.

Members to select winner at General Assembly

The final decision on the host city for the 2026 World Conference will be made through a member vote during the General Assembly on 26 September at our upcoming World Conference in Nairobi.

We look forward to engaging our members in this decision and are grateful for the hard work and dedication shown by all the candidates in preparing their proposals.

We wish the best of luck to Cannes, Dhahran, and Edmonton, and thank them for their efforts in fostering environments that drive global innovation. Keep an eye on #IASP2026bids on social media for more details on the shortlisted candidates in the coming weeks!
