Building on last year's results, Ruta N kick off the year working on new strategic plan to continue positioning itself as a leader in science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship in its region. Its strong last year, in which the organisation achieved significant results, is the starting point for this new initiative.

Carolina Londoño, Ruta N’s Executive Director said that “Ruta N programmes that stood out in 2025 will continue to keep addressing city challenges, connecting Medellin with the world, and accelerating high-impact business. This translates into new editions of programmes such as Futumed, Medellin Next, Gen N, among others”. For 2026, the three funding mechanisms will be maintained to strengthen the Special Treatment Zone, with a focus on health, security and the circular economy. Another successful programme for supporting high potential startups, Medellín Next, will also be renewed, with second cohort to be launched soon expanding its reach from 25 to 48 selected companies.

As we saw on last month’s Peers Around the World, Generacion Tech, Gen N and Futumed are big initiatives in Ruta N, and this new year sets new approaches for this programmes. Futumed will return with new calls for proposals following the strong results of its initial implementation.

Carolina added that “in the coming months we will also announce new calls for digital skills training aimed at closing the social and economic gaps and ensuring that no one is left behind in the city’s transformation”. These calls will also include programmes, partnerships and educational platforms.

New developments include more than ten bootcamps throught the year and a new initiative called Horizontes Senior, through which technological training will be offered to older adults for the first time. In 2025, Ruta N delivered more than 17,000 training licenses with the support of partners such as Google and Platzi.

Additionally, Ruta N will modernise its facilities with cutting edge technology to offer improved experiences. As a result, its main auditorium will be equipped with and audiovisual system which also includes a LED screen, three video projectors, 4k video processors, and four 4k PTZ cameras.

The strategic plan reflects Ruta N’s commitment to expanding its scope, evolving its programmes, and strengthening its service to the community, ensuring that innovation remains a driver of opportunity for all.
