Description:

Global economic disparities, particularly pronounced in Africa, hinder livelihoods and job prospects due to challenges like resource depletion and climate change. Africa's development models favour capital-intensive sectors, leaving its abundant labour force marginalized. This exacerbates youth unemployment and poverty, especially in rural areas. Entrepreneurship offers a solution, leveraging their innovative skills and digital literacy to create sustainable employment and drive social change.

In the dynamic landscape of youth entrepreneurship intersecting with technology, the Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) stands as a pivotal force in nurturing youth-led climate entrepreneurs, by empowering micro and small enterprises (SMEs) through incubation, mentorship, and financial support, deeply aligned to the conference theme of “Demographics, Entrepreneurship & Technology”.

Insights shared here are a reflection of studies done by KCIC as well as lessons learnt from programs already implemented and under implementation. Despite obstacles like limited access to finance and entrepreneurship education, opportunities abound for youth-led ventures to leverage technology in areas such as precision agriculture and renewable energy solutions, driving economic growth and environmental sustainability.
