Industrial incubation: Future trends in science parks and innovation areas

With the acceleration of global economic integration and technological innovation, the changing modes of scientific and technological achievements' industrialization, the evolving demands of technological entrepreneurs, and the paradigm shifts in regional economic and industrial development, the traditional operation modes of science parks, technology business incubators, and other innovation areas are facing challenges. Industrial incubation has become a necessary choice. This paper elucidates the essence, components, and main characteristics of industrial incubation. Through case studies of Norway’s industrial incubation, Xiaomi's Ecosystem Chain, Haichuanghui (HCH), and Songshan Lake Robotics Industry Base, it demonstrates operational models of industrial incubation and its positive impact on emerging industries' growth. In view of how to build an effective industrial incubation system, this paper puts forward some strategic suggestions, such as large enterprises initiating industrial incubation platforms, close integration of R&D institutions and industries, transformation and upgrading of traditional science parks and incubators, and government guidance and support measures.
