Background information

The Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP) is a science and technology park especially equipped for high technology organisations located in Kulim District, Kedah, Malaysia. Kedah is an all-important economic hotspot of the Malaysian Northern Region that prides itself on its harmonious diversity in its geography, people and tourism hotspots. Furthermore, the technology park serves as a strategic gateway to South-East Asia and is very favourable for a variety of industries with their eye on economic expansion.

The Kulim Hi-Tech Park was officially in inaugrated in 1996 and became Malaysia’s first high tech industrial park. As of today, it has developed over 4500 acres of land, comprising a total area of 4,510 acres of space that has been transformed into specially equipped high tech office and research space. KHTP is the key component in the nation's plan to be fully industrialized by 2020. Today, KHTP is a fully integrated and comprehensive science park that hosts multinational and local companies within the hi-tech sectors including Intel and First Solar
