Description:
The theme of the conference defines Demographics, Entrepreneurship and Technology as the drivers of future economies. STPs plays a leading role in promoting entrepreneurship and building entrepreneurial ecosystems. Knowledge-based resources are essential in these ecosystems. According to the knowledge-based theory of the firm, the possession of knowledge-based resources is essential in dynamic business environments. These resources contribute to foster innovation and creativity, improve efficiencies, and deliver customer benefits. In this paper we explore Open Innovation in Science (OIS), an emerging framework to study openness and collaboration in scientific research, at TECNOSINOS, a traditional STP in Brazil. The findings suggest the importance of scientific and technological anchoring of UNISINOS, a Higher Education Institution (HEI), in TECNOSINOS. UNISINOS invest in their communities playing the role of inciting innovation and entrepreneurship through knowledge generation and sharing through specific exchange relationships and translation of science into practice (e.g., university‐industry collaborations, academic entrepreneurship).
