IASP is gearing up for its 2025 World Conference, with CEO Ebba Lund and the IASP Events team recently concluding a series of site visits and meetings in Beijing, China.
These preparatory activities, conducted in collaboration with Mr Rui Guo, Mrs Yan Zhang and the team from the local host, Zhongguancun Science Park (Z-Park), aimed to finalise arrangements and explore potential venues to ensure a successful conference.
The team also met with colleagues from IASP’s China office and local IASP members, including former IASP President Chen Hongbo, Senior Executive Vice President of Tusholdings. Discussions focused on the current innovation scenario in China, and how IASP can keep bringing value to Chinese members and support their involvement in our global community.
Over the course of their stay, the IASP team inspected several key venues, including the China National Convention Center, the Intercontinental Beijing Beichen, and various other hotels and reception sites.
The team also explored the city's innovation hubs, such as Zhongguancun Software Park, Zhongguancun Life Science Park and Changping Science Park of Zhongguancun Science Park, gaining insights into Beijing's dynamic innovation ecosystem. The trip was complemented by cultural tours, including a visit to The Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven, providing an enriched understanding of the local context for international attendees.
Reflecting on the visit, Ebba Lund said: "The density of innovation locations, companies, sectors, and cultural places to explore is remarkable. Together with Z-Park, we aim to deliver a program focused on knowledge sharing, sustainable economic development, and international collaboration. The program will also feature local science parks and IASP members who are integral to the city’s innovation ecosystem."
Further updates on the planning process will be shared during the upcoming IASP World Conference in Nairobi on 24-27 September, where more details about Beijing 2025 will be unveiled.
