Building bridges of cooperation at IASP Chinese Member Salon

IASP members and collaborators from across China got together on 1 December for the 9th IASP Chinese Member Salon on Science Park and Hi-tech Company Development, held as part of the 2022 Tengchong Scientists Forum.
Xueqin Wang, Head of Science and Technology Department of Yunnan Province, Herbert Chen, IASP President, and Ebba Lund, IASP CEO, all addressed the forum, which had the main theme of “Development of Innovative Technology and International Cooperation”.
IASP CEO Ebba Lund greeted the audience via video from IASP headquarters in Malaga, Spain and shared an update on the IASP World Conference recently held in Seville for the benefit of Chinese members who were not able to travel, IASP’s upcoming 2023 World Conference in Luxembourg, and highlighted the knowledge services provided to members worldwide.
In his keynote speech, Herbert Chen presented an analysis of development trends of science parks over the past 10 years, based on data in the IASP Global Surveys. He believed that the future development direction of science parks is to further integrate innovation resources, further improve parks’ service quality and capability, and provide tailor-made services for SMEs with innovative technologies.
Hellen Zhang, former Deputy Director of Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park and Senior Advisor of IASP China Office, shared the story of Z-Park building a world-renowned brand that carries forward its innovation culture in her video report, and introduced the role it has played, the work it has done, and the impact it had on regional development, as well as its future plans.
Jinjing Lu, Secretary General of Kunming Entrepreneurship and Innovation Federation - an IASP member in Yunnan Province, delivered a speech on "Practice of International Industrial Cooperation and Demand for International Talents in Southeast Asia", and shared his experience in building a cross-border talent service platform in South and Southeast Asia with the "talent+" innovative model to facilitate regional industrial cooperation and technological innovation. Delegates also heard from Guanghua Fang, Vice Dean of CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute, who presented some key technologies such as using advanced robot technology for the maintenance of locomotives and tracks, and integration of electric vehicles, and Hao Tang, General Manager of TusPark (Jiangsu) Innovation Research Institute, who reflected on the advantages of being an IASP member, especially access to international resources, knowledge and contacts thanks to IASP’s global network.
Yunnan Province is currently speeding up the construction of modern industrial system, which will rely on science parks’ strength in integrating high-quality resources and preferential policies, so as to improve innovation mechanism, upgrade industrial system, making plans with international vision for local technology companies to go global, where IASP will play a key role in linking domestic and international resources by building bridges of cooperation between Chinese parks, international parks and their resident companies.
