This year’s virtual journey is well under way, leading us to the return of in person events in 2022 with our World Conference in Seville, Spain.

It all started to seem much closer this month, when IASP CEO Ebba Lund and Director of Communications & Events Francesca Antoniazzi travelled to Seville to visit the conference venue and other top locations in the city, and meet with local hosts PCT Cartuja.

CEO Luis Perez and his team joined discussions with our Professional Conference Organiser (PCO) on the conference content and programme, networking events and inspiring tech tours that we could offer to our global delegates next year.

Our conference venue will be the Barceló Sevilla Renacimiento hotel, which is located at PCT Cartuja and makes it an ideal base to see the science park in action. Its unique site is the first example of reworking the legacy of a World Exhibition – Seville Expo '92 – to transform it into a space connecting universities, science, and business. In keeping with the global nature of an IASP world conference, the hotel commemorates 500 years since the first circumnavigation of the globe by explorers Fernando de Magallanes and Juan Sebastian Elcano. They set out from Seville on their journey around the world in 1519 and returned in 1522, just as IASP will bring visitors from around the world to Seville in 2022!

As well as a rich scientific programme and the chance to get to know the science park, the conference offers delegates the opportunity to discover the historic city of Seville and its innovation ecosystem. Located in Andalusia in the south of Spain, Seville is full of UNESCO World Heritage sites and centuries of culture and gastronomy to offer visitors.

IASP and PCT Cartuja look forward to welcoming you there on 27th-30th September 2022 – stay tuned for more updates!
