Empowering the Future: Ciudad del Saber's Mission to Fuel Sustainable Startups

This paper discusses the entrepreneurial landscape in Panama and the role of Ciudad del Saber as a private non-profit, Science and Technology Park, in promoting sustainability startups. In recent years, Latin America has experienced a significant increase in venture capital investments in startups, but countries like Panama still face challenges in terms of education, generating technical talent, and developing investment opportunities for startups. Panama has one of the highest early-stage entrepreneurship rates in Latin America, but only 6% of the businesses survive more than 3.5 years, due to a lack of investment opportunities and capable talent. Ciudad del Saber has invested in 18 startups since 2015, focusing mainly on digital solutions that solve meaningful problems and are scalable through online tech.
