Research Triangle Park unanimously approves RTP 3.0

Research Triangle Park (RTP) has recently reached a historic milestone with the unanimous approval of RTP 3.0, a new land-use framework that modernises development standards across the Park's 7,000 acres. 

For the first time in its nearly 70-year history, RTP companies and landowners will be able to pursue a broader range of development options, including enhanced corporate campuses, walkable mixed-use districts and limited residential uses, while preserving the Park's core mission of advancing research and innovation. 

The approval concludes a five-year collaborative planning process involving industry, academia, government, and community stakeholders. The framework is designed to serve as a flexible roadmap for the next 50 years, enabling companies to adapt their campuses to evolving workforce and market needs while reinforcing RTP's role as a global innovation hub. 

The new framework positions Research Triangle Park to attract talent, investment and future economic growth, a goal that reflects the broader ambitions of science parks and areas of innovation around the world as a response to rapidly changing demands from industry and society.
